FAQs
Can it be attached to my combine?
Yes. Geringhoff corn heads can be adapted to all makes and models of combines.
How is this corn head powered?
The corn head is powered by the PTO shaft off the combine to a gearbox. Eliminating the chain and oil bath system used on other corn heads, larger heads are driven from both sides. This design also provides a superior transmission of power, increases product life and reduces maintenance time
Does it take more power than my current corn head?
Geringhoff subjects all it's products to rigorous and documented testing. The ROTA DISC has been tested in irrigated, high yield, high population conditions. We have determined that the ROTA DISC will require up to 3HP more per row than a conventional corn head. The NORTHSTAR model does not require any additional HP rating than a conventional corn head. Many NORTHSTAR users have reported a lower horsepower draw than their previous OEM heads.
What colors do the headers come in?
All Geringhoff corn header frames are black. Poly snouts (or bonnets) are matched to the color of your combine. The bonnets can easily be change if you change brands of combines. Current color availability is; green, red, yellow or grey.
Can I move this header to another brand or model of combine?
Yes. Simply remove the current mounting brackets and replace them with brackets designed for your new combine. The mounting brackets are very affordable and readily available.

How much do the headers cost?
Geringhoff products are recognized around the world as being the highest quality cornheads available. The upfront investment in a Geringhoff header is greater than conventional head. The long term cost of ownership however is recognized as one of the lowest when one considers that a Geringhoff head will provide: the highest resale value, exceptional durability and tremendous yield improvements given minimal cob loss. In addition, growers who choose the Rota Disc model will avoid the expense of an additional stalk chopping pass, saving over $10 per acre. Your local Geringhoff dealer will provide an exact quote for you. A competitive lease program is also offered.
Which models and sizes are available as folding units?
Geringhoff produces folding headers in both the Rota Disc and NorthStar models from 4 row up to 24 Row.
Can the NorthStar be converted to a Rota Disc?
No. The stalk shredding feature is only available on the Rota Disc and although Rota Disc row units can be replaced, it would be cost prohibitive to convert an NorthStar header with complete new row units and the Rota Disc drive system
What is the difference between the Rota-Disc and the NorthStar?
Geringhoff produces two types of corn heads. The Rota Disc is for growers who want to harvest corn and destroy stalks in a single pass. The NorthStar provides the technological advances of the Geringhoff corn header, and relies upon an advanced knife roll design. The knife rolls do not destroy the stalk to the same degree as the Rota Disc, however it will provide greater destruction than any OEM knife roll head currently available.
What are the benefits of using the ROTA DISC cornhead?
There are several benefits to using the ROTA DISc Corn head. In most areas, by cutting the stalks at the same time as picking your corn, it will save the additional pass that many growers must make to chop or dispose of the stalk. In addition it will decrease the cost of your primary tillage and secondary tools as well as improve residue management. Currently, Geringhoff's 16 row header is the largest available. The massive capacity allows the grower to maximize the use of today's highest capacity combines. Geringhoff also offers headers that fold with the push of a button. This allows the grower to safely travel down narrow roadways.
How long will the stalks be after going through the ROTA DISC system?
The stalks will be 3-6 inches long, cut at an angle. Much of the inner pulp will be exposed to enhance the decaying process. All stalk stubble will be left in the field at a height above the ground which is determined by the operator.
Will this do a better job than the stalk chopper I'm running now?
Yes. The quality of the cut is equal or superior. A primary advantage of the ROTA DISC system is that all of the stalks are chopped before the wheels of the combine, grain wagon, tractor or truck have an opportunity to run over them
Can I put this stalk destruction unit on my current corn head?
No. The ROTA DISC is a complete corn head of the highest quality. It is engineered and manufactured to exceptional levels of performance, durability and reliability
